What We Can Learn from Performing Roman Comedy

Experiences of participants at an NEH Summer Seminar on the Performance of Roman Comedy in 2023 demonstrate that performing scenes from the plays of Plautus and Terence not only allows us to appreciate these plays better, but brings greater understanding of ancient Roman society and the nature of theatrical performance. This workshop will feature videos of the scenes performed at the institute.
