WashU & Slavery Edit-a-Thon!
The St. Louis Integrated Database of Enslavement (SLIDE) enables you to search many different historical records about enslavement, enslaved people, and enslavers in greater St. Louis, Missouri that are physically scattered across different archives at once.
The SLIDE team is working on developing an interactive map of slavery in St. Louis. This edit-a-thon invites WashU students, staff and faculty to participate in the creation of this map by helping trace the parcels of all property holders identified on a highly detailed 1857 map. This will make it possible to link information from SLIDE and other sources to the landscape of greater St. Louis, historically and today. No experience required. Free pizza and snacks.
RSVP requested for planning and walk-ins are welcome.
