Our guest lecturer had some compelling observation to share with our class. He stated that African Americans have a rich cultural foundation on which all can build. I truly believe in his observation that we have a foundation in music and other art forms that is worthy of careful examination by all. I also believe as stated that America itself has no real cultural manifestation of its own, with such a solid historical base. Black music is a series of broad ongoing conversations of personal experiences of people’s lives and the world; this would be a true statement to remember throughout life.
