In the Jazz reform movement discussion we learn than in 1930 jazz music styles developed within itself. Swing style took Jazz on a different journey, while others felt that it had become too commercial, and that we should return to our cultural roots and the New Orleans style (authentic version).
Returning to the authentic style jazz of that era would not be a stage for the newer fresher music of the times. The newer fresher sounds are the sounds that we need to venture into to get the new Jazz sounds of our time. For example Jimmy Smith and the Hammond B-3 organ was such powerful an example of the newer, fresher soul jazz sound that rocked the entire music world.
